Speaking on Malaysia’s official social platform on May 10th about the country’s Coronavirus outbreak, former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir said that the current outbreak of Coronavirus in Malaysia is serious, in the run-up to Eid al-Fitr, the public should abide by the pandemic regulations and maintain self-discipline, try to avoid going out and partying, reduce the risk of infection with the virus.
When Malaysia first implemented the action control order in 2020, it effectively controlled the outbreak and kept new confirmed cases in double digits every day, but now there are more than 4,000 new confirmed cases a day, Mahathir said.
He called on the public to remain vigilant and self-disciplined at this stage, while encouraging people to actively vaccinate against Coronavirus vaccine, saying, “Although the vaccine cannot be given 100% protection, but the effectiveness is very high.”
