May 3rd, New York Universities Are Offering Classes On MarijuanA To Help Students Learn about The IndustrY After The State Legalized Recreational MarijuanA Use, The New York Post Reported Tuesday.
Online Excelsior College is promoting its new master’s degree in marijuana, students will receive a “marijuana control” diploma, and the university is expanding its undergraduate marijuana program.
“We’re educating people about the marijuana industry,” Scott Dolan, dean of graduate programs at Ickselhill College, told the New York Post.
By 2025, marijuana will be a multibillion-dollar industry in New York.” Dolan said graduate students will learn about the complexities of how the marijuana industry works, including complying with numerous government regulations. In addition, there are a number of legal issues that need to be addressed.
Currently, 10 branches of the State University of New York (SUNY) also offer courses related to cannabis and its industry.
James Malatlas, president of the State University of New York, said marijuana courses, certificates, training programs and degrees for students will undoubtedly improve the ability of students to match their jobs in the emerging cannabis industry.
Cornell University also offers a course called Marijuana: Biology, Society and Industry.
