Reuters quoted the British “Telegraph” news on November 22 that the United Kingdom may grant regulatory approval for the new crown vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech this week.
The Telegraph quoted government sources as saying that British regulators are about to begin a formal evaluation of Pfizer and BioNTech vaccines. In addition, the National Health Service (NHS) has been told to prepare to administer the vaccine by December 1.
A spokesperson stated that the authorization process of the UK Medicines and Health Products Agency (MHRA) is independent of the government.
According to reports, the United Kingdom has ordered 40 million doses of vaccine. If approved by the regulatory agency, it is expected that there will be 10 million doses by the end of the year, which can be used by 5 million people.
