April 23 afternoon in the northern French province of Evelyn Rambouillet, a knife attack on police, resulting in the death of a policeman, the perpetrator was shot dead by the police.
According to French media quoted police sources reported that the attack occurred at around 14:20 on the same day at the entrance of the police station in the city of Rambouillet.
The victim, a 48-year-old policewoman who was an administrative officer, was attacked by a knife-wielding man on her way back to her office and died of her injuries at the scene. The attacker was shot dead during a police arrest.
Reported that the attacker is a 37-year-old Tunisian man, the background is not clear. Initial investigations revealed that the officer had previously located the address of the police station. France’s national anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office has stepped in to investigate.
French Prime Minister Caste and French Interior Minister Dalmanin rushed to the scene of the incident. “Our determination to fight terrorism in all its forms has never changed,” Caste said in his speech.
The province of Evelyn, located in the Paris region of France, has been the target of numerous attacks on public officials. Last October, a secondary school teacher in the province of Confran-San Onorine was killed in a street attack by religious extremists.
