British Prime Minister Johnson announced the country’s new greenhouse gas emission reduction targets at the Climate Ambition Summit on the 12th, and said that Britain will vigorously develop clean energy and strive to become a wind power power country.
To commemorate the fifth anniversary of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, the United Nations and relevant countries held a climate ambition summit by video on the 12th, at which Johnson addressed.
In his speech, Johnson set out the country’s new greenhouse gas emission reduction target proposed by the British government in early December, that Britain’s greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced by at least 68% compared with 1990 by 2030. He said that the UK has formulated plans to promote the development and application of clean energy technologies.
In his speech, Johnson also called on countries to use scientific and technological progress to “protect our planet” and protect the planet from the possible disasters caused by global warming through innovative inventions.
In November this year, the British government announced a “Green Industrial Revolution” plan covering 10 aspects, including vigorously developing offshore wind energy, promoting the development of a new generation of nuclear energy, and accelerating the promotion of electric vehicles. The British government said that the plan will drive government investment of 12 billion pounds (about 16 billion US dollars) and is expected to create and support up to 250,000 jobs by 2030.
