On the 12th local time, according to a BBC report, the Climate Ambition Summit, co-sponsored by the United Nations, the United Kingdom and France, was held online.

British Prime Minister Johnson said that the short summit was action-oriented and made new climate commitments more important. Prior to the meeting, Johnson announced that the United Kingdom would end direct support for overseas fossil fuel projects.

United Nations Secretary-General Guterres called on all countries to declare a climate emergency on the same day.

He pointed out that the economic recovery has been hit by the coronavirus epidemic, which has caused developed countries to use 50% more fossil fuels rather than low-carbon energy.

The conference was held on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the signing of the Paris Climate Agreement, with the participation of more than 70 leaders around the world.
