In an interview with CCTV reporters recently, the World Bank’s Vice President of East Asia and Pacific Affairs, Victoria Kwa, said that the CIIE provides an important platform for global cooperation, especially in 2020, when the new crown pneumonia epidemic will continue to affect the world. By holding the CIIE as scheduled, China has demonstrated to the world the attitude of continuing to open up and cooperate as a major country.
CCTV reporter Liu Xu: The third China International Import Expo has just opened. If you consider the special circumstances affected by the new crown pneumonia epidemic this year, how do you understand the special significance of this year’s CIIE? What does it mean to tap the potential of China’s market, promote cooperation among countries around the world, and China’s adherence to an open policy?
Victoria Kwa, Vice President of the World Bank in charge of East Asia and Pacific Affairs: I think the platform of the CIIE first sends a positive signal that China will firmly uphold its openness, and therefore benefit other countries. In addition, the CIIE also promotes personnel exchanges through practical actions, and implements trade, investment and openness through specific measures. Therefore, I think the platform of the CIIE is very good, especially in the context of this year’s new crown pneumonia epidemic. Global challenges cannot be solved by a single country. Countries need to cooperate in response, support each other, and jointly find solutions.
Vice President of the World Bank: China will play a more important role in global governance

Victoria Kwa, Vice President of the World Bank in charge of East Asia and Pacific Affairs : China’s continuous deepening of reforms to enhance market vitality and provide impetus for growth. These will be the source of China’s sustainable development and will allow China to develop with other countries. It is also worth learning from other countries. This means that China’s successful progress is beneficial to all countries in the world . The World Bank will continue to strengthen its partnership with China, as it has in the past four decades.
