At 7 a.m. local time on May 3, 26 people were killed when a speedboat crashed into the wall of a Bangladeshi Bazaar ferry terminal in the West Pujol region of Madaripur, Bangladesh.
According to Abdul Razak, head of the Kadarbari Coast Guard, a speedboat from Simlia capsized when it hit the wall of a docked sand carrier near the ferry terminal. After receiving the news, the coast guard rushed to the scene of the accident to carry out rescue.
As of press release, five people have been rescued and rescue efforts are still ongoing.
To prevent and control Coronavirus pandemic, Bangladesh took a national “seal city” after the closure of public transport, ferries and speedboats suspended. But there are still some speedboats that carry passengers illegally.
