Ankara, December 15 Turkish Defense Minister Akar condemned the recent decision of the United States to impose sanctions on Turkey on the 15th, stressing that Turkey will firmly maintain national defense and security.
Turkey’s Anadolu News Agency quoted Akkar as saying that Turkey condemns this decision that is inconsistent with NATO alliance relations, current military and political realities, and Turkey will continue to firmly maintain national defense security.
Ismail Demir, director of the Turkish Defense Industry Bureau, said that Turkey is determined to have an independent defense industry, and the Turkish defense industry will continue to develop.
On the 14th, the U.S. government announced sanctions on Turkey on the grounds that Turkey purchased a Russian-made S-400 air defense system.
Specific measures include prohibiting the export licenses and authorizations of U.S. products and technologies to the Turkish Defense Industry Administration, and imposing property freezes and visa restrictions on several officials, including the Director of the Bureau of the Bureau, Demir.
