Ankara, January 29 According to the data released by the Turkish National Bureau of Statistics on the 29th, Turkey’s tourism revenue in 2020 was nearly two-thirds lower than the previous year due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
The data shows that Turkey’s tourism revenue in 2020 was about 12 billion U.S. dollars, a decrease of 65.1 percent compared with 2019.
In the fourth quarter of 2020, Turkey’s tourism revenue fell by half year-on-year to about 4 billion US dollars, and all tourist expenditure types, including sports, education, culture and other aspects, fell to varying degrees year-on-year.
The data also shows that Turkey received about 15.83 million foreign tourists in 2020, a decrease of 69.5% from 2019.
According to statistics, the amount of Turkish residents traveling abroad in 2020 was about 1.1 billion US dollars, a decrease of 74.9% from 2019.
