The estimate is based on the expected economic effects of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games Preparatory Bureau, taking into account various losses.
The estimated loss is about 719.8 billion yen for participants and spectators of the games and consumer spending of households, about 640.8 billion yen for the one-year postponement, and about 1.0527 trillion yen for the post-closing sports promotion.
According to the estimate in March last year, if the Olympic Games are canceled, the economic loss will reach about 4.5151 trillion yen.
