According to the announcement of the Ministry of Health and Prevention of the United Arab Emirates on January 5th, the cooperation scientific research institutions of the United Arab Emirates authorities have reached an agreement with the Chinese National Pharmaceutical Group to produce domestic vaccines locally under the authorization of China, and millions of additional doses of vaccines that have been produced will be imported from China.
This is also the cooperation between China and Arab in the joint fight against the epidemic again after China’s coronavirus vaccine was officially approved for the market in the United Arab Emirates early last month.
A spokesman for the UAE health department said that since October 1 last year, the UAE has been vaccinated with at least 826,301 doses, with an average of 47,000 doses a day.
The UAE aims to reach 50% of the country’s population by the end of March. The United Arab Emirates’s domestic vaccine production is mainly to further meet domestic demand and prepare for the needs of the global vaccine market.
At present, vulnerable groups have priority vaccination rights, but according to the spokesman, the United Arab Emirates also hopes to vaccinate young people as soon as possible.
In July 2020, the Gulf country with a population of 10 million has cooperated with China National Pharmaceutical Group to start phase III clinical trials of the novel coronavirus vaccine, which was attended by more than 31,000 volunteers living in the United Arab Emirates and from 125 countries and regions.
So far, China National Pharmaceutical Group has provided 3 million inactivated coronavirus vaccines to the United Arab Emirates.
