Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and former First Lady Rosalyn Carter will not attend the inauguration ceremony of President-elect Biden, ABC News reported on the 6th.

This is the first time that the 96-year-old and 93-year-old Carters have missed the inauguration of the President of the United States since Carter took office as the 39th President of the United States in 1977.

A spokesman for the Carter Center in Atlanta said that the Carters have extended “good wishes” to Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris and “look forward to the success of this administration.”
