The Organization of Islamic Cooperation convened an emergency meeting on the situation in Afghanistan

2021 August 22, local time, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, based in the western Saudi city of Jeddah, held an emergency meeting. In his opening statement, the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Yusuf Osemin, expressed the hope that all parties in Afghanistan would reach an agreement as soon as possible to establish an inclusive Islamic Government.

Osaimin stressed that the Afghan ruling authorities should do their utmost to maintain peace and stability in Afghanistan. He also called on OIC member states and partners to provide humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan as soon as possible, while avoiding interference in its internal affairs.

The meeting was attended by the Permanent Representatives of the States Members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation or their envoys to Saudi Arabia.
