According to the Democratic Republic of the Congo media, on January 27, local time, the National Assembly voted to remove the current Prime Minister Ilunga and dissolve the government under his leadership.

In the ballot that day, a total of 367 votes for the recall motion was 7 against and 2 abstentions.

On the same day, Prime Minister Ilunga said that the motion was a “political means without factual basis”.

Nevertheless, some ministers in the Ilunga cabinet participated in the National Assembly’s vote.

On May 20, 2019, President Tsisekdi of the Democratic Republic of the Congo appointed Irunga, the former general manager of the National Railway Company, as Prime Minister.

Ilunga is nearly 80 years old and has more than 30 years of political experience.

Since 2014, he has been the general manager of the National Railway Company.

Before that, he has held many important positions in the financial department.
