According to NewsMobileIndia, a local media in India, the Indian-Tibet Border Police Force (ITBP) said that three bodies had been found near Tapovan in Chamoli region of Uttarakhand.
Uttarakhand chief secretary OM Prakash said Sunday that massive flooding in the Chamoli area could cause about 100 to 150 casualties after the glacier broke, ANI reported.
Ridhim Aggarwal, head of India’s National Disaster Response Force, said that the lives of more than 150 workers working at the local Rishi Ganga hydropower station may be directly affected.
“The hydroelectric station representative told me that they could not reach about 150 workers at the project site,” Aggarwal said.
After the flash flood, India subsequently sounded the “highest warning” in several regions, including Pauri, Tehri and other places.
