August 22nd 2021 Swedish television reported that Swedish Prime Minister Lewin had said he would step down as prime minister this autumn.
He announced his resignation in his summer speech on the 22nd, “in next year’s election campaign, the Social Democratic Party will be led by anyone but me.”
Mr Lewin said he would resign during the Social Democratic Party conference in November, “I have informed the party’s executive committee and the chairman of the nomination committee that I want to resign as party chairman at the party congress in November and will resign as prime minister thereafter”.
