January 29th – In June 2020, a 9-year-old boy in South Korea was suspected of not daring to tell the truth because the game console was broken. He was locked by his stepmother for a plum box for 7 hours.

The court overturned the original sentence of 22 years’ imprisonment and commuted it to 25 years’ imprisonment. It is prohibited to engage in occupations related to children and adolescents for 10 years.
According to Yonhap, the court held that the defendant knew that his behavior might cause death, and the circumstances of the crime were more vicious and cruel than ordinary people imagined.
The incident occurred on June 1, 2020, when the suspect Cheng was locked in the suitcase with his son B, who lived with him for three hours.
The size of the suitcase was 50cm long, 29cm wide and 71.5cm high.
Later, it was locked in a smaller suitcase (44cm long, 24cm wide and 60cm high), causing it to suffocate.
During this period, Cheng, who weighed 140 kilograms, also stood on the suitcase and called his own children to step on it together.
