Iranian media reported on May 2nd that a chemical plant at an industrial park 20 kilometers from the center of the northern Iranian city of Kum caught fire at 6 a.m. local time. The chemical plant mainly produces alcohol products, the fire is large, smoke appeared at the scene.
A spokesman for the Coombs Fire Department said 100 firefighters had been deployed to fight the blaze, which was a difficult process, with one fire truck burned down, leaving two firefighters seriously injured. After three hours of uninterrupted work, the fire was put out. In addition to the two firefighters, four others were injured and are being taken to nearby hospitals.
The deputy attorney general of the city of Kum said the fire was initially believed to have been caused by negligence and that the necessary judicial investigation was under way and that no one had been summoned or arrested.
