Kiev, December 26 Irina Nikolak, president of the Ukrainian Silk Road Association, said in an exclusive interview with Xinhua News Agency reporters a few days ago that China and Ukraine recently signed a cooperation plan for the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, marking the two countries from concept unification to action implementation in relevant fields.
Ukraine will take this opportunity to continuously deepen pragmatic cooperation, actively learn from China’s experience, and accelerate the international logistics system and modernization of Ukraine.
Nikolak said that Ukraine was one of the first countries to respond to the Belt and Road Initiative, and Ukraine and China have maintained close communication and cooperation in the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.
In 2019, China became Ukraine’s largest trading partner. This year’s COVID-19 epidemic has seriously affected the world economy, but Ukraine-China trade is still growing against the trend.
She said that China is Ukraine’s strategic partner, and the miracle of economic development created by China has set an example for Ukraine. Ukraine is willing to actively learn from China’s experience and strengthen cooperation in various fields.
Nikolak said that Ukraine looks forward to in-depth cooperation with China in infrastructure, industrial parks and high-tech development zones, and agricultural processing.
Ukraine also plans to build a number of large logistics centers and international airports to upgrade international logistics transshipment capabilities, and the cooperation between the two sides in this field has broad prospects.
She praised China’s contribution to the fight against the epidemic and maintain world peace and stability. She said that during the epidemic, the world economy and order were seriously challenged.
China actively promoted economic globalization and trade liberalization, actively participated in global governance, and strived to build an open economy. China’s efforts were impressive.
On December 23, the fourth meeting of the Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee between China and Ukraine was held by video.
The two sides signed cooperation documents such as the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative cooperation plan and the joint statement on launching the feasibility study of China-Ukraine trade liberalization arrangements.
