Thousands of people in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, went to the seat of the government and parliament to protest after the announcement.
Some people broke into the government and parliament buildings, occupying the prime minister’s office and parliament meeting halls.
The vehicle in which the Speaker of Armenia was riding was intercepted by the protesters.
The speaker himself was dragged out of the vehicle by the people and beaten.
