CHICAGO, Aug. 19 2021 More than 385,000 people attended the four-day Lollapalooza Music Festival in Chicago, USA. Chicago officials said recently that at least 200 coronavirus cases had been tracked in connection with the festival, but declined to describe it as a “super-transmission event.”
About two weeks after the end of chicago’s Lollapalooza roll, the city of Chicago said it had detected 203 related cases, including 58 Chicago residents and 138 residents from other parts of Illinois, the New York Daily News reported Wednesday.
At a press conference on the 12th, local public health commissioner Awadi said it could not be proved that the festival was a “super-transmission event.” Almost a week later, on the 17th, local time, Awadi insisted.
Local officials have previously said they had asked spectators to show proof of vaccination or nucleic acid testing in order to successfully hold the festival, and said about 90 percent of the people had been vaccinated.
Chicago currently has about 400 new confirmed cases a day and is re-enforcing the requirement to wear masks in indoor public areas.
