December 16th – On the 15th local time, the first lady of the United States, Melania, visited a children’s hospital and did not comply with the epidemic prevention regulations to read for two sick children.
Melania wore a mask when she arrived at the National Center for Children’s Medicine. After sitting in front of a tree, Melania took off her mask and read a book about the festival to the children.
According to the report, Melania visited children in the hospital every year during her tenure as First Lady. Compared with previous visits, the scale of this event has been significantly reduced. Most of the children watched Melania readings live online, and those who were present with Melania included Riley Whitney, 6, and Sophia Martinez, 8. While Melania was reading, they sat on the floor in front of her.
The hospital’s policy explicitly requires all visitors to wear masks, “To prevent the spread of COVID-19, everyone must wear a face mask at all times in any building in the Children’s Hospital.”
The First Lady’s office did not immediately respond to the reasons for removing the mask and whether special permission was obtained. Melania and Trump were infected with the coronavirus at the same time in October.
Health experts say it’s not clear how long antibodies will provide protection and recommend that masks should still be worn.
