KLM announced that it would continue to cut 1,000 jobs, AFP reported.

On July 31, 2020, due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, the company has announced that it will cut 4,500 to 5,000 jobs in the next few years.

In a statement, the company said that in addition to direct layoffs of 1,500 people, about 1,500 temporary contracts will not be renewed, and another 2,000 positions will be cut through voluntary separation plans.

KLM expects further layoffs at that time, as demand for flights is not expected to fully recover by 2023 and 2024.

Earlier, the Dutch government provided 3.4 billion euros of economic assistance to the aviation group to help it cope with the crisis caused by the COVID-19 epidemic.
