According to Iraqi Araba TV, on the evening of the 29th, in the Qaim area near the border between Iraq and Syria, theĀ vehicle of Muslim Shahdan, a senior commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, was attacked by a drone. Shahdan and three accompanying people were killed in the attack.
At present, the Iranian side has neither confirmed nor denied this news.
Earlier, on the 27th, Mohsen Fahrizad, 59 years old, the head of the research and innovation agency of the Iranian Ministry of Defense and the chief nuclear scientist, was assassinated in a town near the capital Tehran.
Iran’s Tasnim News Agency quoted a statement from the Iranian Ministry of Defense as saying that Fahrizad’s car was attacked by a suicide bombing by unknown terrorists and shot at it. Fahrizad died after being sent to the hospital.
At present, no organization or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack. Iranian state-run global satellite television Arabic Channel accused the murder of the scientist by the Israeli intelligence secret service “Mosad”.
The commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps tweeted on the same day that Iran would launch retaliation against the murder of a nuclear scientist.
