April 29 2021, the Japanese Sumo Association announced that sumo wrestler Songlong (known as Amano Guang rare) died of acute respiratory distress syndrome on the 28th, aged 28. He was taken to hospital about six minutes after he collapsed on the field after falling to the ground during a big sumo match on March 26.

According to Japan’s “Daily Sports” reported on the 29th, the ring dragon belongs to the Ministry of Yukawa house, currently ranked in Japan’s grand sumo league for three segments (sumo players by results divided into 10 levels, three paragraphs equivalent to the 8th level).

During the March 26 match, he was knocked to the ground by his opponent and, after about a minute on the ground, turned him over by three assistants.

After that, the dragon was still unable to climb up on its own, fell about 3 minutes after the stretcher entered the scene, the staff slightly prepared to carry him out, the doctor arrived at the scene, patted the dragon body many times but it did not respond.

About six minutes after the fall, the dragon was carried on a stretcher to the hospital for emergency treatment.

On March 27th, the dragon’s master, Yukawa, said through the Sumo Association that the dragon was undergoing treatment. Related sources revealed that the dragon has been treated in hospital after his injuries, has begun to resume mobility.

But on April 28, he died suddenly of acute respiratory distress syndrome. He is understood to have had a thrombosis in his lungs while he was in bed.

“I was shocked by the sudden news, ” said the president of the Japan Sumo Association, Octagon, in a commentary on the 29th. ” Instead of him, I thank all the medical staff involved in the treatment.”
