Tokyo, December 5 Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga promised the world on the 4th that he will continue to work hard to ensure the safe holding of the Tokyo Olympics next year.
Yoshihide Suga made the above remarks at the 75th UN General Assembly special meeting on the new crown epidemic on the 4th. In a pre-recorded video, he said: “I will continue to spare no effort to host a safe and reliable Olympic Games.”
In 2011, when Japan first proposed to host the 2020 Olympics, the main purpose was to use the Olympics to promote the reconstruction of the Fukushima tsunami-stricken area and to stimulate the economy that has been stagnant for many years.
Suga Yoshihide also stated in his speech that he hopes that the Tokyo Olympics will become “a symbol of mankind’s victory over the epidemic.” This sentence is the most commonly used propaganda slogan by the Japanese government and the Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee after the Olympic Games were postponed.
Japan is suffering from the third wave of the epidemic, and the number of confirmed cases has hit a new high in the last month.
