In response to the spread of the variant virus, the UK will speed up the vaccination of a second dose of Covid-19

14 May 2021 the British government said it will speed up the vaccination of a second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and in some areas to implement control restrictions to help solve the spread of the variant virus caused by the surge in cases.

Nadeem Zahawi, the UK’s vaccination deployment officer, said the country would target vaccination programmes where they were most needed, possibly including getting vaccinated as soon as possible for young people living with older people.

Public Health England has so far detected 1,313 cases of variant coronavirus infections found in India, more than double the number a week ago.
