British media reported on the 23rd, British Home Secretary Patel said the same day, a new border plan to require visitors to apply for electronic permits will make Britain safer.
Under the scheme, all visitors without a visa or immigration status must apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before visiting the UK. Visitors who require an electronic travel authorization include those who make a short stopover in the UK or transit through the UK.
Those wishing to work in the UK or have lived in the UK for more than six months will need to apply for a visa instead of an electronic travel authorization.
An estimated 30 million people apply for an electronic travel authorization each year.
Patel will reportedly provide more details on the Legal Immigration and Border Control Strategy on the 24th.
