May 19 2021 The Archaeological Site Of Underwater Diving In The Northwest Aegean Sea Marine Reserve Will Be Open To VisitorS On June 1, The Greek Ministry Of Culture announced.
The site is reportedly located in the Alonisos National Marine Park on the small island of Peristella. Centered on a shipwreck in the 5th century BC, it was carrying hundreds of double-eared pots and pointed pots traded throughout the Mediterranean.
The Peristra shipwreck dive site, Greece’s first underwater archaeological site, was completed in August 2020.
The Alonisos National Marine Park is a protected area that prohibits fishing and other destructive activities and is rich in marine life. (Zhang Wei)
