As of the 27th local time, the cumulative number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Greece exceeded 100,000.
At a press conference on the same day, the Secretary-General of Greece’s Commerce and Consumer Protection, Stam Pridis, said that Greek government authorities are setting the highest price for COVID-19 nucleic acid PCR testing and antibody testing in private laboratories, clinics and hospitals.
According to the introduction, the price of the proposed limited COVID-19 nucleic acid PCR test is up to 40 euros, and the maximum price of the rapid test of COVID-19 antibodies is 10 euros.
The establishment body of the price ceiling, the Greek Ministry of Investment and Development, will soon submit legislative amendments to the Greek Parliament.
At present, in private medical institutions in Greece, the price of COVID-19 nucleic acid PCR test is between 70 euros and 120 euros, and antibody testing costs 40 to 60 euros. Stam Pridis said that the Greek government set the price ceiling to protect the public interest and avoid excessive prices from the hospital.
Although the Greek National Public Health Organization will carry out random testing for the novel coronavirus in some urban centers and suburbs, this mobile testing method cannot meet the needs of the people.
Once suspected symptoms of COVID-19 appear, people can also go to public hospitals and health centers for free nucleic acid and antibody testing.
According to the current situation, the Greek health department said that if people with suspected symptoms want to have free examination, they can also follow the procedures published by the national public health organization to report.
First call the hotline of the Greek National Public Health Organization at 1135 or +30 2105212504 to report a history of travel or exposure, as well as related diseases, such as runny nose, dry cough, fever, dyspnea, joint or muscle pain.
The Greek National Public Health Organization will give professional advice to the helper according to the situation and refer it to the designated hospital for COVID-19 testing.
