On the afternoon of May 5, 2021, the Selangor State Education Bureau of Malaysia issued an emergency notice that, affected by the coronavirus outbreak, from May 6, all schools in the state will be closed until May 13. According to an earlier announcement by Malaysia’s education minister, all primary and secondary school students in the country will take two weeks of home-based online classes after May 13.
In addition, Malaysia’s Senior Minister of Defence, Ismail Sabri, announced on the evening of May 4th that six counties in Selangor had implemented a 12-day “operational control order” for pandemic prevention from 6 May to 17 May to further strengthen restrictions as coronavirus outbreak worsened.
