In an interview with The Washington Post on April 22, former U.S. Vice President Al Gore praised Chinese President Xi Jinping’s speech at the leaders’ climate summit and said China was taking a positive step forward.
Mr Gore said China had a good history of “planning and executing plans”. He estimated that China would “exceed” its target of net zero emissions by 2060, which is crucial to the global fight against climate change.
Gore called the leaders’ climate summit “exciting and important” and said the world had crossed a political threshold on climate issues.
