According to the New York Daily News on the 4th, an old man in the United States said that he received a phone call from the hospital on Christmas Eve that his wife, Barbara Guthrie Lay, a former Virginia beauty pageant, died of complications from the novel coronavirus at the age of 82.
However, as soon as he called his family and friends, he received the “most precious Christmas gift” of his life.
The hospital called and said that his wife had woken up. “My mood went from pain and heartbreak to ecstasy,” said the old man named Tony Ley.
It is understood that Barbara contracted the novel coronavirus from her neighbor who did not wear a mask.
Howard Huff, an old friend of her, said, “She (Barbara) lives in a townhouse in Georgia, and a child next door has contracted the novel coronavirus.
Her neighbors were not in favor of wearing masks, and the child’s mother came over to talk to Barbara.”
After Barbara developed symptoms of dyspnea, her husband Tony took her to the hospital.
“What we know next is that she’s using a ventilator,” Huff said.
According to the report, Barbara was declared dead by the hospital on Christmas Eve.
Barbara’s son, physician Tom Kelly, said that doctors tried to rescue him and thought he was dead.
But a few minutes later, a miracle happened, and the doctor found that she had a weak pulse.
Barbara has now moved from the intensive care unit to the general ward.
