Former FDA official: There may be 500,000 new cases per day in United States
According to CNBC reports, on the 6th local time, Gottlieb, a former U.S. Food and Drug Administration official, said that the number of new coronavirus infections in the United States in a single day may have reached 500,000.
According to data from Johns Hopkins University, on November 5th local time there were 120,000 new confirmed cases in the United States. From 16:00 on the 5th to 16:00 on the 6th local time, the number of new infections reached 140,000.
This is the third consecutive day that the number of new cases in a single day has remained above 100,000.
Gottlieb said that only one-fifth of the cases have been detected so far, and the actual number of infections may be higher. Gottlieb said that the U.S. government currently has no targeted pandemic prevention measures. He said: “We are brewing a lot of trouble. This situation may break out within a few weeks.”
