Foreign Ministers of Thailand and Indonesia believe that ASEAN can play a role in resolving Myanmar’s political crisis.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Dun Palmaweinai, held talks with the visiting Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Massoudi on February 24.

The two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations, anti-epidemic cooperation and promoting ASEAN’s central role in regional cooperation.

In terms of the current domestic situation in Myanmar, the two sides agreed that Myanmar is an important member of the ASEAN family and that ASEAN can play a role in promoting constructive dialogue with Myanmar to solve the current domestic political crisis in Myanmar, subject to the ASEAN Charter and respect for the will of the people of Myanmar.
