The death of Floyd, an African-American man who was crushed to death by police, will enter its final phase of closing arguments this week, and to prevent mass protests after the verdict, the Beverly Hills Police Department said it was fully prepared for a new round of demonstrations to prevent a repeat of last May’s riots in the city.
Beverly Hills Police Chief Dominique announced at a news conference that the police department has laid out the situation after the Floyd trial, in order to prevent an emergency, the local police are ready to face acts of radicalization, will do their utmost to protect the safety of the city’s businesses and citizens.
At the same time, the Beverly Hills government also announced that from the 19th, the city’s overall upgrade of the security alert level, in addition to strengthening police defenses, other law enforcement agencies and private security companies will provide the necessary support and work closely with local law enforcement agencies, the only purpose of this initiative is to protect the city’s businesses and people’s property security, to prevent a repeat of last May’s violent looting in the city.
City officials also said that in addition to increased police patrols, local businesses and businesses may be required to shorten business hours and suspend businesses, while advising citizens to reduce unnecessary travel and prohibit travel to areas prone to unrest.
