CAIRO, May 12 2021 At least five people were killed and 16 injured in a traffic accident in Egypt’s southern province of Sohaj, Egypt’s official Al-Jazeera newspaper reported Tuesday.
Reported that a minibus and a private car on the same day on a highway in Sohaj province, the preliminary investigation showed that the accident was caused by the minibus driver speeding. At present, the injured have been transferred to the public hospital in Sohaj province for treatment.
Traffic accidents are common in Egypt due to poor road conditions and weak drivers’ awareness of traffic safety. In recent years, the Egyptian government has been upgrading its road network and building a large number of new roads and bridges to reduce traffic accidents.
