According to the latest news from AFP, the extremist organization Boko Haram claimed responsibility for the attack on a boarding secondary school in Katzina State in northwest Nigeria.
On the evening of the 11th local time, the middle school was attacked by unidentified militants, and 333 students are currently missing.
United Nations Secretary-General Guterres issued a statement through a spokesman on December 13 local time, calling for the “immediate and unconditional release” of students suspected of being kidnapped by armed men.
In a statement, Guterres strongly condemned the attack and called for students to return home safely as soon as possible.
He reiterated that “attacks against schools and other educational institutions constitute serious human rights violations” and urged the Nigerian government to “bring the perpetrators to justice”.
