by YCPress

January 11th local time, Chris Whitty, England’s chief medical officer, warned in an interview that the UK will face a health emergency unless people comply with the new lockdown requirements.

Professor Whitty said that 30,000 COVID-19 patients are being treated within the National Health Service, and the number is rising, and more than 80,000 people have died of COVID-19 in the UK.

In England, 1 in 50 people have COVID-19; in London, 1 in 30 people have COVID-19. He stressed that in terms of the number of people currently receiving treatment, the next few weeks will be the worst of the epidemic.

Whitty said he hoped that everyone could fight the epidemic strictly in accordance with the government’s requirements, and he revealed that the government may tighten restrictions again to further control the spread of the epidemic.
