2 May 2021 a Belgian police spokesman reported that 132 people had been arrested on 1 May during an illegal gathering in the Camble Forest, south of Brussels, of whom 127 were in administrative detention and 5 in judicial detention. Fifteen people and 13 police officers were injured as police drove away the crowd and carried out arrests.
The gathering was banned by Belgian authorities and the event’s page on social media was taken down early, but between 1,000 and 2,000 people turned up. Police began to remove the crowd on the evening of 1 May and used water cannons and tear gas, and the scene did not regain calm until about 21 pm that night.
