Belgian Coronavirus patients were transferred by helicopter to Germany to treatment for the first time

On November 3, local time, three COVID-19 patients in the eastern city of Liege in Belgium were transferred by helicopter to the western German cities of Munster and Bonn for treatment.

The German ambassador to Belgium Martin Kothaus stated on social media that this move demonstrates the unity of the European Union and the friendship between Belgium and Germany.

It is reported that this is the first time a Belgian patient with Coronavirus was transferred to Germany for treatment by helicopter. Last week, a Coronavirus patient in Liege, Belgium was sent to Germany by ambulance for treatment.

Currently, Belgium is one of the countries with the most severe Coronavirus pandemic in Europe. With the rapid increase in the number of patients with Coronavirus, medical resources across Belgium, including Liege, are becoming saturated.

The head of the Belgian Medical Institutions Union, Philippe De Vos, recently told the media that the Belgian intensive care unit is likely to be fully staffed within 10 days.
