Minsk, May 26 2021 The Belarusian Embassy in Canada announced on the 25th that the White Embassy in Canada will be closed on September 1st according to the decision of the White Council of Ministers.
The Belarusian embassy in Canada said it would stop offering services such as visa application processing, consular certification and passport exchange on July 10.
Belarus National Law Network published in the early hours of the 26th, the White Council of Ministers adopted the text of the resolution. The resolution says the White Embassy in Canada should be closed by October 1, and the resolution will take effect on the day of publication.
Earlier this year, Belarusian Foreign Minister Marki said it was necessary for Belarus to reconsider its previous concept of activities abroad and to optimize its activities. The country will close some embassies abroad whose work has long failed to pay off financially, while considering expanding its diplomatic presence in areas where cooperation prospects are expected.
Belarus and Canada established diplomatic relations in February 1992, in 1997 the Canadian capital Ottawa opened an embassy, Canada has not yet established an embassy in Belarus.
