Toronto, March 10 – The Royal Canadian Air Force confirmed on March 10 that a Canadian Air Force CH-149 “morant” helicopter crashed that afternoon.
The incident took place at an air base in Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador Province. The helicopter involved in the accident was hovering at the airport.
The military revealed that there were six crew members at the time of the incident. Two of them are still being treated in the hospital, and the other four have been discharged.
After the incident, emergency personnel rushed to the scene quickly. The airport is temporarily closed. The military said that the flight safety department of the Canadian Air Force had immediately launched an investigation.
The CH-149 “morant” helicopter is a long-range model specially designed by the Canadian military for search and rescue.
