by YCPress

On November 22nd local time, Russian President Press Secretary Peskov regretted the official withdrawal of the United States from the Open Sky Treaty, believing that the withdrawal of the United States made the treaty even more impractical.

Previously, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov said that after the withdrawal of the United States from the treaty, if other contracting countries want to continue to retain or continue to implement the treaty, Moscow will ask it to provide legal guarantees to Russia in writing, including not prohibiting Russia from a certain part of the territory of the contracting party.

Air flight, whether there is a U.S. military base or not, and resolutely do not convey to the United States the information obtained by the State party’s aerial reconnaissance in Russia.

According to the Russian News Agency, the German, French and British Foreign Ministers have all said that they will continue to work to implement the provisions of the treaty.

The Open Skies Treaty was signed in 1992 and became one of the initiatives to build strategic security confidence in Europe after the Cold War. The treaty, which has been implemented since 2002, allows participating countries to disclose and collect information about military forces and activities from each other.

So far, there are 34 parties to the Open Skies Treaty. U.S. President Trump announced at the end of May this year that the United States had initiated the withdrawal process from the Open Skies Treaty on the grounds that Russia violated the Treaty.

Russia has repeatedly refuted the U.S. accusation of breach of contract.
