19th November “Whampoa Future Economic Research Results Conference (Germany 2020)” was held in Heidelberg, Germany.
The most important agenda of the day’s event is to release a study on Germany’s future economic trends. The report interviewed 1,200 German future industry decision makers and business executives from industries 4.0, artificial intelligence, bioengineering, biomedicine, clean technology, new energy, information engineering and communication technology, green travel, new materials and other fields.
The report elaborates on their efforts to the coronavirus crisis, the global Views, views and expectations of the economy, international trade relations and supply chain, as well as the investment environment in Germany, the prospects for international investment cooperation and the development prospects of the Chinese market.
The survey results show that 44% of the respondents believe that the German economy is being affected by the pandemic; 72% of the respondents agree that the sustainable development of the global economy cannot be separated from deeper international technical exchanges; 74% of the respondents hope that the German government can introduce more economic policies to promote the development of new technologies in a targeted way.
And investment strength.
Meanwhile, the majority of respondents expect businesses to continue to be affected by the coronavirus crisis in 2021, while 92% of executives of enterprises planning to increase jobs or keep employees unchanged, and only 8% of companies said they would lay off workers.
With regard to investment and financing, 36% of business executives said they would increase their investment in the next year, 39% would remain unchanged, and only 15% of business executives planned to reduce their investment.
In addition, the report also shows that although most German executives think China is very important for the development of their industry, they know little or little about the Chinese market. Zhou Songbo, chairman of the China-German Science and Education Park, pointed out at the round-table forum on the same day that the main reason for this phenomenon is that nearly three-quarters of these future economic leaders in Germany have never been to China.
In his view, China’s current economic development momentum is strong, and Germany has always been known for its pursuit of perfection and precision craftsmanship. If China’s speed is combined with Germany’s quality, I believe that in the future, whether in the German market or the Chinese market, it will occupy a place.
