Iranian government spokesman Ali Rabie said on the 17th that if the United States takes military actions against Iran, Iran will respond strongly.
The Iranian government website published Rabie’s statement. Rabiet said: “Any action against Iran will undoubtedly face a devastating response.” As for whether the United States wants to create international and regional unrest, “I personally will not predict.”
Prior to this, the US “New York Times” reported on a US government official that US President Donald Trump met with Vice President Mike Pence, Acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller, and the US Chief of Staff on the 13th of this month.
The chairman of the joint meeting, Mark Milli, and other officials met and asked if there was a way to destroy Iran’s nuclear program in the coming weeks. Officials at the meeting persuaded Trump not to do that because it might trigger regional conflicts. Trump finally gave up this idea.
The White House declined to respond to media questions about the above report.
In 2018, the Trump administration unilaterally withdrew from the comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue, using sanctions and military threats to “extreme pressure” on Iran, resulting in extremely tense US-Iran relations.
In January of this year, Trump ordered the US military to attack and kill Iranian senior general Qassem Soleimani in Iraq.
In retaliation, Iran fired missiles at two Iraqi military bases stationed in the United States in the same month, causing traumatic brain injuries to many American soldiers.
