China News Agency, Paris, November 14 the cumulative number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus in France exceeded 1.95 million. French President Macron said on the same day that the next few days will be a critical period for fighting the pandemic.
According to the official pandemic data released that night, France had newly confirmed 32095 cases in a single day on the 14th, and the cumulative number of confirmed cases exceeded 1.95 million that day, reaching 1,954,599. The number of deaths from Coronavirus in France is now 44246, with 354 new deaths.
The initial effect of the second nationwide “closure of the city” in France appeared on the 14th. The number of inpatients and severely ill patients with Coronavirus showed a double downward trend for the first time since the end of October. The number of hospitalized patients in France on the 14th was 32,499, a decrease of 208 from the previous day; the number of severely ill patients is now 4,871, a decrease of 32 from the previous day. The French virus test positive rate is now 17.6%.
Macron said on the same day that the people need to fight the pandemic together, and the next few days will be a critical period for fighting the pandemic. He also called on the public to follow the “five measures to save lives” through social media: wear masks, wash hands frequently, ensure social distancing, regularly ventilate confined spaces, and download anti-pandemic mobile software.
French Prime Minister Castel stated through Le Monde on the 14th that before Coronavirus vaccine is put into use, people have to coexist with the virus for a long time. He revealed that the government is studying measures to deal with the pandemic that may extend to next summer. He confirmed that festivals and family gatherings in indoor gathering places will not be held for a long time. He also said that telecommuting may still last for several months.
Regarding issues related to Coronavirus vaccine, Castel said that vaccine research and development is making progress. In addition to Pfizer’s vaccine, there are many vaccines in the experimental stage. We must be cautious while preparing. He also said that officials are already working on booking vaccines.
Castel worried that the number of French vaccinations would be insufficient in the future. This may make it difficult for the vaccine to achieve its maximum effect. According to a poll in September, only 59% of respondents in France are willing to be vaccinated against Coronavirus, while 74% of respondents worldwide are willing to be vaccinated.
