Zaparov resigned as Acting President of Kyrgyzstan to participate in the presidential elections

On the 14th, the Press Service of the President of Kyrgyzstan announced that the Acting President of Kyrgyzstan Zaparov has decided to resign as Acting President of Kyrgyzstan and suspend the work of Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan.

As an ordinary citizen, he will participate in the upcoming presidential meeting on January 10, 2021. election. According to the Constitution, the post of President will be performed by Kyrgyz Speaker Mametov, and the duties of Prime Minister will be performed by the First Deputy Prime Minister. 

Zaparov pointed out that he thanked all political forces, public figures, civil society representatives, media professionals and intellectuals who supported his election. 

He abides by all his opponents. Although they have different political views, the goal is the same, which is to ensure that the country has a bright future. National peace, people’s unity, and social stability are the most important.

According to the Kyrgyz Central Election Commission, earlier in the day, Zaparov had already submitted the election materials to the Central Election Committee. At present, 62 presidential candidates have submitted materials.

The 14th is also the final deadline for applications for the presidential election.
