August 23 – 22 local time, a 13-year-old boy in India, while raising a flag to welcome local officials to visit, was electrocuted.
The boy, Dinish, an eighth-grader, joined more than a dozen others in the day to meet Tamil Nadu’s education minister, India Today reported. When Dinich placed the flag-stinging pole on the ground, it came into contact with a high-voltage wire on the ground and Dinich was thrown into the air. He was taken to a government hospital, but unfortunately the rescue failed.
After Mr. Dinich’s death, criticism emerged on social media, with many questioning the placement of banners, bulletin boards, posters and banners in political events.
